FAQ’s

I’m not an executive or a business professional. Why should I get coached?

Life coaching is for everyone. I meet my clients where they are in their life. There is a lot for us to talk about that isn’t related to career or business!

How is a life coach different from a mentor?

A mentor is a person who is an expert in a particular field that you want to ask advice about. Typically, we approach mentors for advice about ‘what we should do’ to achieve success (usually in our work or career). A life coach does not necessarily have any expertise in your field of work — and even if they do, life coaches would not offer you their own opinion on how you should do something.

How is a life coach different from a therapist?

In a therapy relationship, a therapist’s role is to treat the client for neurosis. A therapist is regarded as the expert (a medical one, at that). A life coach is the client’s peer and equal — a coaching relationship is collaborative. A life coach also assumes no neurosis in the client.

How is a life coach different from a friend?

In general, life coaching is a professional relationship established with the client.

How much is a life coaching session?

My rates are dependent on various factors. Please contact me for more information.

Sorry, but life coaching doesn’t sound legitimate.

I understand why it may seem that way. Check out this article from the Huffington Post about Life Coaching that covers a bit of history about life coaching, and interviews the founders of my coaching training institute.

Who regulates the life coaching industry? Is this a licensed profession?

Check out this article from girlboss.com, which talks about this in depth (and is very eloquently written).

What aspects of my life can a life coach help with?

The short answer is: anything and everything! From your relationships, friendships, health, personal growth, money, career, fun, the list is endless.

Can you guarantee that I will get something out of life coaching?

To a certain extent, yes. I can’t foresee exactly what may happen, what clarity you may find, or what action you will take in your life as a result of coaching, but I can guarantee that the conversations we’ll have will get you thinking about these things.

What will I get out of a life coaching session?

In general (but not necessarily so), you can expect to uncover a bit about yourself (such as your values, what are some things in life that are important to you), have more clarity in your choices, and gain different perspectives. In coaching, you also get as much out of coaching as you’re willing to put into it. The more you show up, are transparent with your coach, and are honest with your feelings, the more you will uncover about yourself.

Can anyone be coached?

Yes. However, if you are currently in rehab or undergoing psychological therapy, I’d recommend that you re-evaluate seeking coaching after you have completed those sessions.

Logistics of a life coaching session?

I conduct all my coaching sessions via phone calls. These sessions are 30-min or 50-mins, and the cadence of the sessions are either monthly or twice-a-month depending on my clients’ preferences.
